Time for a Pause?

Dan Webster is a friend, mentor and coach to me and countless others. There have been numerous occasions where I have found myself picking up the phone to get a word of advice from Dan. Dan's words aren't always what I want to hear, but they are always honest and what I have needed to hear.

Dan has been investing in leaders for more than 30 years. He founded a leadership development company called, Authentic Leadership in 1994 and since then has been passionately committed to train and inspire leaders to live authentic lives of great impact.

A few months ago I participated in an experience that Dan has aptly named, Pause. Pause is a a one day experience to gain clarity for your life and work. It was a fantastic experience on many levels. I experienced it with some friends -- Mark Matlock, Tic Long, Nathan Vawser and Rick Lawrence. The venue was incredible too (see pic below). And -- of course -- the content was very helpful as well.

As you await the renewal of the earth for this spring, take a minute and ask yourself if you need to gain clarity on your life and work and renew your personal vision. It is always helpful for me to discover again and reflect upon just what it is I am to be, become and do.

  1. Man, I need renewal. I need to get a long-range plan in place. Did you end up with a guiding document, a new mentality…what did you walk away from PAUSE with?

    Holla, CB.

  2. chris-

yeah, i had a guiding document. the cool part was it had short term and long term plans. i have followed through, too!

one of the best exercises was to look back over the last year and reflect on how the last year has shaped my life and work. the way dan led through it was new for me. very creative and insightful.

you should do it if at all possible. call me if you have more questions. you still have my number, right?

  3. Chris …

That was a great couple of days. I recommend PAUSE to everyone. Worthwhile.

  4. Gang,
Ditto for me on Dan’s Pause experience. It was refreshing and renewing for me on so many levels, and I loved the experience of plunging into/learning from others’ stories. I’m a big fan of who Dan is and how he’s put together this process.

  6. Web rocks… this is a great resource.

  7. Hey Chris,

Love the site… Would love to come down and visit with you and Mike some time, I live in Cincy. Just read Mikes book and am in the process of reading yours. Basically they are dead on wit what I have been trying to do with our ministry. I have actually been trying to find a camp to take my kids to that was not trying to evangelize them and make them into Bible thumping machines overnight!! Love the potential that you and Mike have together and would love to come down to KC and meet and chat for a day or so, I would also like to check out the camp! Would love to bring my kids the the camp there next summer. Let me know your thoughts!
